Rodeneck/Rodengo

Seven neighborhoods forming a single town: Our hotel is located in the neighborhood of Vill. It is one of seven neighborhoods which form the community of Rodeneck/Rodengo. The Corpus Christi Procession and Pentecost Concert, the "Heart of Jesus" bonfire and the Church Day: Musical bands, the fire department, and quaint traditional garb make our festivals a treat to visit and participate in. Guided tours along the "Bee Route" with free samples of honey are especially popular.

Rodenegg Castle

This majestic fortress was constructed in A.D. 1140 by the Lords of Rodank. In the 16th century, the Wolkensteiner family expanded it and made it one of the mightiest fortresses of its kind. The cycle of frescoes depicting the 13th-century Iwein Saga are among the oldest profane (i.e., non-religious) frescoes of all German-speaking countries. And during the guided tours, you can find out what the legendary "Lauterfresser" was. More and more often, the castle forms the impressive backdrop for art exhibitions and concerts.

Rodeneck/Rodengo Meadow

Far from hectic mass tourism, against the backdrop of magnificent mountain scenery, you can experience the wonder of blossoming Alpine roses, and explore the verdant high-altitude pasturelands: The Rodeneck/Rodengo Meadow extends from an altitude of 1,700 meters till 2,200 meters above sea-level (the Astjoch / Cima Lasta). On a clear day, you can see all the way to the celebrated "Three Pinnacles" and the Ortler/Ortles. This area is popular with young and old the whole year round.

The Franzensfeste/Fortezza Fortress

This impressive fortress built during the Habsburg era of massive blocks of granite is now used for cultural events: In 2008, the Manifesta7, the European Biannual of Contemporary Art was held here. On the occasion of the anniversary of the Tyrolean struggle for freedom, the provincial exhibition titled "Labyrinth: Freedom" is being held here in 2009. Thick walls, mazes, underground passageways, embrasures, and look-outs are all to found in this visually stunning fortress. At the BBT Infopoint, you can learn more about the Brenner Base Tunnel, a transboundary project of the century.

The Neustift/Novacella Abbey

Today, 850 years after it was founded, the Augustine Canon Chapter continues to fulfill its religious and secular tasks. These tasks can be looked up in the precious tomes houses by the famed library. The Late-Baroque Collegiate Church and Gothic cloisters, the Ecological, Bible, and Educational Center, the Miracle Spring, and price-winning white wines make the Neustift/Novacella Abey an experience for all your senses.

Brixen/Bressanone, the Bishop's City

For centuries, Brixen/Bressanone was the seat of the Prince Bishops. The fortress with its cathedral treasures in the diocesan museum, the cathedral with its fabulous frescoes by Paul Troger and the cloister, the medieval arcades and the remnants of the city walls and gates, the priest seminary and the monastery schools – everything is a testament to the city's religious and political significance. That includes the Faculty for Educational Sciences of the Free University of Bozen/Bolzano, which was recently added. The Christmas Market in front of the cathedral spires is another attraction drawing tourists every year.
