DOLOMITI “…le montagne più belle del mondo.” (Reinhold Messner)
Once during your vacation in the Dolomites, you should take a tour across the Dolomite passes. It will lead you up close to the “Pale Mountains”, and to the rocky towers, which once emerged as coral reefs in the primordial ocean. A unique cycle of legends revolves around its origins and populates the stony landscape with moon princesses and dwarf kings.
In the area of the Three Peaks, tunnels and gun emplacements show the front line of WWI, where Italian mountain troops – the Alpini – faced the Austrian Kaiserjäger. Countless climbing and hiking trails lead you through the unique natural landscape and around the four nature parks “Fanes-Sennes-Braies”, “Puez Odle”, “Sesto Dolomites” and “Sciliar-Catinaccio”.
Dolomite passes: The “Grand Dolomites Tour” leads from Bolzano across Passo Carezza, Passo Pordoi, Passo Falzarego, Cortina d’Ampezzo and Passo Tre Croci all the way to Dobbiaco. Some stages can be done on a racing bicycle or mountain bike. In the winter, the circular ski tour “Sella Ronda” offers you the opportunity to conquer four Dolomite passes only with skis and ski lifts. Thanks to the ski network DolomitiSuperski, the entire area of the Dolomites is today the world’s largest ski carousel with about 1200 kilometers of slopes.
