Program of the week in spring – summer – autumn

The success of the “AlmencardPLUS“ will continue for another year by offering summer visitors to our region a very specific range of services: action, adventure, mobility, cable cars and all manner of variety for the entire family, included in one unique event card.

    > ‘From grain to bread’ family excursion in Terenten. 09:00 – 13:00 (4 h) | Meeting point: Info office in Terenten. This excursion is a great opportunity to learn all about the life of mountain farmers. After a one-hour walk to the farm, you can try some freshly baked typical farmer’s bread straight from the old stone oven. The hike will then resume and lead you to the mills’ valley in Terenten, where you can see a collection of ancient grain mills as well as the exciting earth pyramids. You will also get the chance to visit one of the mills that is still in operation. The path is not suitable for prams. Price: € 5, free for children up to 14 years
    > Electric bike tour from Mühlbach – Easy tour 09:30 – 14:30 (5 h) | Meeting point: Mühlbach train station. An E-bike ride through the Eisacktal valley to visit the Neustift monastery, followed by a guided tour and wine tasting*. Price: without bike rental: € 25, with electric mountain bike rental and helmet: up to 150 cm of height € 70, from 150 cm of height € 77 (hardtail electric MTB) or € 85 (fully electric MTB), *€ 12 optional supplement for the guided tour and wine tasting
    > Visit to a mill in operation in Terenten. 10:00 – 14:00 | Meeting point: Info office in Terenten. For a long time it was very difficult to reach Terenten from the valley. For hundreds of years the village people had to look after themselves. The farmers and craftsmen provided food and clothes. Almost every farm had its own mill. However, only few of them are still fully functional. The educational mills path leads along Ternerbach River. During a 1,5 hour hike you walk past 7 renovated corn mills, some of which are up to 500 years old. This is where farmers used to grain corn into fine flour, and sometimes still do. During the summer months one mill is open to the public every Monday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
    > Old Castles & New Wines – Visit to the Vineyard & Organic Farm. 10:00 – 12:00 (2 h) | Meeting point: Mühlbacher Klause. A local winegrower will be showing you around his vineyard and illustrating his alternative methods for cultivating grapes and ancient apple varieties. Price: € 12, free for children up to 14 years old, incl. tasting
    > Llama and Alpaca trekking in Meransen. 15:00 – 16:00 (1 h) | Meeting point: Hinterwalderhof farm in Meransen. The unforgettable family experience with the 14 llamas and alpacas from the Hinterwalderhof (at the entrance to the Altfasstal valley). Other days on request.     > Nature & Culture excursion in Terenten. 09:00 – 12:00 (3 h) | Meeting point: Info office in Terenten.
    Exercise, fresh air and vitamin D are three essential but often underestimated factors when it comes to health. This excursion to Terenten, also known as South Tyrol’s “sun village”, is a great chance to experience the health benefits of all three things while also exploring the local cultural and landscape sights, such as the earth pyramids or the water mills. Price: free with Almencard, free for children up to 14 years old

    > Summer in the mountains with Kneipp in Meransen. 14:00 – 17:00 (3 h) | Meeting point: Altfasstal car park. A pleasurable circular hike to the Kneipp course in the Altfasstal valley with stations along the way. Price: free with Almencard, free for children up to 14 years old
    > Morning walk and Alpine breakfast in Terenten. 06:30 – 12:00 (5 h) | Meeting point: car park Winnebachtal Valley in Terenten. Follow our hiking guide on an early-morning excursion! After a relatively steep climb to the Tiefrastenhütte hut (2,312m), you will be rewarded with a hearty Alpine breakfast and a breath-taking panorama. For this excursion you will need to be in good physical condition and have appropriate equipment. Price: € 20, incl. breakfast
    > Sightseeing in a different way – easy E-bike tour. 10:00 – 14:00 (4 h) | Meeting point: Mühlbach cable car station. Discover the top sights by bike. Tour: Aica, cold war-era bunker, high apple plateau Naz-Sciaves, Bressanone historic city centre, augustinian monastery of Novacella, Fortezza. Info and registration: +39 0472 522045.     > Vals-Meransen panoramic tour (circular hike). 09:00 – 14:00 (5 h) | Meeting point: at the church in Vals. This tour starts in Vals and leads to the valley station of the Gitschberg lift in Meransen along the Leitensteig trail. From there, the ascent to the midway station is free for Almencard holders. The tour continues with a fantastic mountain view all the way to the Bacherhütte hut and then the Großberghütte hut in the Altfasstal valley, where refreshments are available. After that, the Jochsteig path will take us to the locality of Tanne and back to the point of departure in Vals. Price: € 10
    > Climbing in the Dolomites. 08:00 – 16:30 (9 h) | Meeting point: announced at registration. After a short training session with our expert mountain guides, you will be treated to an unforgettable day in the Dolomites, including historical war sites and thrilling abseiling. Diverse via ferratas on Mt. Rosengarten and the Three Peaks are waiting for you! Price: € 90. The price includes the hire of equipment (helmet, harness, via ferrata sets and optionally gloves). Additional services such as lift fares, tolls and parking fees are not included and are to be paid on site.
    > Carriage ride for children in Meransen. 5-14 years. 10:00 – 11:00 (1 h) | Meeting point: Tennis hall Meransen. Children get the chance to go for a parent-free carriage ride and maybe even sit next to the coachman. Price: € 5
    > Taster rafting tour. 15:00 – 16:30 (1,5 h) | Meeting point: St. Sigmund sports area. Perfect for families and beginners who want to combine fun and adventure. Price: € 35 for adults and € 25 for children (5-12 years). Please bring your swimwear and towel.
    > Guided tours of the Mühlbacher Klause. The ruins were once a customs post and hunting seat, as well as the backdrop for the German Peasant’s war in 1526 and the Tyrolean Rebellion of 1809. Price: free with Almencard. 09:30, 10:45, 14:30, Meeting point: Mühlbacher Klause (1h)
    > Meeting the animals at the mountain farm. 5-9 years, 13:30 – 16:00 (2,5 h) | Meeting point: Ahner mountain farm, Rodeneck. During the farm visit, kids have the chance to get to know the resident donkeys, chicken, cats, calves and bunnies. A real treat for the little ones! Price: free wiht Almencard
    > At work with heart and soul. 09:30 – 12:30 (3 h) | Meeting point: Gatscher cheese dairy in Kiens. Learn how milk turns into cheese and make your own soft cheese under expert guidance. A tasting of farm products rounds off the experience. Price: € 11 for adults and € 5,50 for children (4-10 years)
    > Farmers’ market in Bressanone, 08:00 -13:00 at Hartmannsplatz
